Employees of the Research Institute of Agriculture in Komi have developed a new potato variety - "Zyryanets". Work on the creation of hybrid varieties began in 2006. The first results of selection appeared in 2011, when studies of one of 4 thousand samples led to the required indicators. Then scientists began to develop a new variety.
“Zyryanets” is characterized by high taste and marketability, resistant to disease, adapted to the natural conditions of the republic, and its yield exceeds the other varieties by 30-40%.
Mistresses will also like another feature of the new potato variety - because of the low sugar content in tubers, mashed potatoes from it do not darken for a long time.
According to one of the creators of Zyryants, Pavel Konkin, an author's patent has already been claimed for a new variety, you just need to pick up the documents in Moscow.
In addition, in 2018, breeders will present three more new hybrids, work on which was carried out in parallel with Zyryants.
All new varieties are donated to the farms of the republic. This season 2,2 tons of potatoes of new promising potato varieties were planted, including Zyryantsa.
