In the farms "Lukamore" and "Ozyory" of the Ozersky urban district of the Moscow region, 50% of the onion seeds of elite Russian varieties were harvested. This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Moscow Region Andrei Razin.
«The gross harvest of onion sets in the region's farms today is slightly more than 2 thousand tons, which is half of the planned harvest plan. In "Lukamor" they harvested 1,2 thousand tons, in "Ozyory" about 1 thousand tons. These are the only two farms in the Moscow region that are engaged in the industrial cultivation of an elite variety of onions.", - said Andrey Razin.
The seed yield of this valuable agricultural crop was 25-27 centners per hectare.
«In total, these farms have more than 140 hectares of seed for elite domestic onion varieties this year. 95 hectares have been sown in Lukamor, 45 hectares in Ozyory, " noted Andrey Razin.
The Moscow region is the main large supplier of onion sets for farmers not only in many regions of Russia, but also in foreign countries.
“There is always a long queue for onion sets near Moscow. The sale of winter varieties of this onion has already begun, intended for winter planting in the southern parts of the country, in particular the Krasnodar and Stavropol regions. Farmers in these regions will receive the first harvest of early onions in mid-May, which is in great demand, " emphasized Andrey Razin.
According to the minister, last year the agrarians of the Moscow region sold more than 400 tons to the southern parts of the country.
“But the bulk of onions - about 80% - will be stored until March in specialized warehouses. And only in the spring large purchases begin, the onions will be sold all over Russia ", - completed by Andrey Razin.
