One of the main tasks of the development of vegetable growing and potato growing in Russia for the next few years is the popularization of potato varieties of domestic selection. Recently, potato growers of the Stavropol Territory joined in experiments with new varieties, providing plots for growing tubers.
On the basis of K (F) X of Sergei Mernov of the Foothill District, experiments started in April, in which new varieties of seed potatoes of domestic selection were used. Eight varieties of seed potatoes - Fritella, Vympel, Meteor, Favorit and others - were provided by FITS of potatoes to them. A.G. Lorkha and 6 varieties that successfully compete with foreign ones - ETK Meristemnye Kultury LLC.
In the summer, the specialists of the State Institution "Stavropol SIKC" held a scientific and practical seminar with the participation of specialists from the federal research center, as well as heads and specialists of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Stavropol Territory, agricultural organizations and K (F) X potato-growing districts. Later, in continuation of the work, another seminar of potato producers was held with the invitation of the heads of enterprises of the Kirov District and the Republic of Dagestan, where specialists from the All-Russian Research Institute of Plant Protection informed about the diagnosis and protection of potatoes from diseases.
The participants of the seminar showed great interest in the products presented by the Ustyuzhensky potato company. The company is located in the Vologda region, the natural and climatic conditions make it possible to more effectively reveal the varietal potential of the seeds of the potato variety and get a high and high-quality harvest.
The participants also exchanged views on testing new varieties, considered the protection systems for seed potatoes, the technological features of their cultivation. They shared with each other recommendations on the use of organic and mineral fertilizers, and also made suggestions for the further development of the sub-industry in the Stavropol Territory.
“We expect high and high-quality yields from the Foothill potato producers, capable of providing the population of the district with high-quality products in full,” said Sergey Gorban, deputy head of the administration, head of the department of agriculture, environmental protection, food and processing industry of the administration of the Piedmont municipal district.
