According to the daily monitoring of the project Eastfruit, the rush demand for cabbage in Russia has been maintained for the third week in a row. It stimulates further price increases in this segment. The reason for the next rise in prices this week was the general reduction in the supply of high-quality cabbage on the market, which is a consequence of the restraint of sales by Russian producers.
Producers prefer to keep quality goods in storage until at least mid-January, and farmers have sold almost all of their stocks of substandard and slightly frozen cabbage.
Cabbage producers got the opportunity to once again increase the selling prices for their products. Today they are ready to ship the vegetable at 36-48 rubles / kg ($ 0,49-0,65 / kg), which is on average 13% more expensive than a week earlier.
Suppliers are trying to compensate for the deficit in the Russian market by supplying these products from Iran, the price of which is announced on average at 37 rubles / kg ($ 0,50 / kg). However, the quality of imported cabbage is inadequate.
The price of white cabbage in Russian farms today is already 4,4 times higher on average than at the end of 2020. For comparison: in the same period last year, Russian farmers, as a rule, were unable to ship these products at more than RUB 13 / kg ($ 0,18 / kg).
