The demand for potatoes in Tashkent has grown by 50% amid quarantine and excitement in the markets. This was announced on March 31 by the first deputy khokim (mayor) of the city of Hotambek Shokirov at a meeting of the international press club.
According to him, before the introduction of quarantine, residents of Tashkent consumed 100 tons of potatoes per day. However, the spread of the coronavirus caused panic among the population, Shokirov said, so consumption rose to 150 tons per day.
As reported by IA REGNUM, On March 20, the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan promised that there would be no shortage of agricultural products in the country.
