Analysts report good prospects for potato yields in the European Union
According to the latest MARS expert report, the average potato yield in the EU is projected at 34 kg per hectare, which means an increase of 900% compared to last year, when the figure was 14 and 30% relative to the average over the past five years when it was 600 kg.
The largest jump in potato yield compared to the previous season is expected in Germany: by 26% - from 35 400 kg to 44 700 kg per ha. This is also an increase of 2,7% over the last five years, which is 43 kg.
As for France, growth is expected to be 11% compared to 2018: 43 kg compared to the previous 600. Nevertheless, the growth will be 39% if we take into account the values of the last five years, which show the average yield 400 kg.
Dutch farmers are in this race for potato leadership and expect an increase of plus 21%: 44 kg against last year's 300, 36% above the five-year values of 600 kg
The UK remains at its stable performance with yield forecasts of 41 kg, only 600% more than in 3, and repeats data for the last five years.
For Spain, the European Commission says an average yield of 29 kg per hectare in 900, which is roughly the same as in 2019, when they were 2018 kg per hectare, which is 29% lower than the results obtained on average over five years. ...
