Researchers at Faisalabad Agricultural University (Pakistan) conducted a series of experiments to study the use of potato waste as feed for buffalo bulls. They determined that dry potato powder could be used as a cheaper source of energy in animal feed. It can make up to 30% of ruminant feed concentrates without adverse health effects.
In Pakistan, there is a significant gap between the supply and demand of livestock feed. To cope with this problem, it is necessary to increase the availability of feed.
A new trend has emerged in the animal feeding system - the use of non-traditional feed resources, namely: kitchen waste, chicken droppings, citrus and sugar beet pulp, as well as potato production waste. Such resources are rich in minerals, protein and energy. For example, potato waste can be used as feed after thorough drying.
