German farmers await one of the leanest harvests in country history
Due to the low yield due to drought in Europe, German consumers will face a 30% increase in potato prices, N-TV reported on September 12.
“We are expecting one of the smallest potato crops ever in Germany,” a spokesman for the German Agricultural Society told the press. Martin Umhau.
According to him, this year the potato harvest will be from 8,5 to 10 million tons. Last year 11,7 million tons were collected.
