Scientists in a research project have determined that purple potatoes reduce the risk of bowel cancer, as well as other inflammatory processes of the body. Experts from the University of Pennsylvania published the results of their work on the pages of the profile publication.
Researchers specializing in healthy eating have found that purple potatoes reduce the chance of bowel cancer. The experiment was carried out on pigs, in which, as a result of nutrition, including this product, the level of protein, which is the fuel for oncology and inflammatory diseases, decreased.
A purple potato diet reduced pig bowel cancer risk by 6 times. Experts shared that other colored vegetables and fruits provide a similar effect. Thus, the researchers were able to confirm that the “color” diet does contain many anti-inflammatory chemical compounds that prevent the occurrence of serious ailments.
Eating vegetables and fruits of different colors, such as red grapes, green broccoli, and purple potatoes, saturates the body with different compounds, and not just one if the diet is less diverse.
