Every second kilogram of vegetables and fruits comes to the Urals from Uzbekistan, Vremya Press news agency reports.
In total, 229 thousand tons of fruits and vegetables were delivered to the Ural Federal District during the year. Compared to the previous year, the volume of deliveries doubled.
Ecuador, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and Egypt are also active suppliers of fruits and vegetables to the Urals. At the same time, Uzbek products account for half of the foreign trade turnover.
The Sverdlovsk Region ranks second in the Urals Federal District in terms of fruit and vegetable imports. Trucks from Uzbekistan with fresh carrots, beets, cabbage and other vegetables are cleared almost daily by Yekaterinburg customs officers.
“Uzbekistan is a traditional foreign economic partner of the Ural region. Long-term trade relations allow participants to enjoy a certain credit of trust in doing business, which means stability of supplies and confidence in the future,” says Alexei Frolov, Head of the Ural Customs Administration.
