In January 2022, Uzbekistan exported record volumes of white cabbage, Beijing, cauliflower and broccoli, analysts say Eastfruit. Compared to the same month last year, the volume of exports of white cabbage increased by 2 times, cauliflower and broccoli - by almost 3 times, and Chinese cabbage - by almost 16 times.
2021 was a successful year for Uzbek producers of white cabbage and was noted by EastFruit experts among the Top 10 main fruit and vegetable events of the past year. The reason for this was the high demand for these products in foreign markets throughout 2021. The shortage of these products persists today.
In the first month of 2022, the situation in foreign markets remained very favorable for Uzbek producers and exporters of cabbage.
According to the Customs Committee of Uzbekistan, in January 2022, the country exported 10,8 thousand tons of white cabbage, which is 2 times more than in the same period in 2021.
But the export volumes for other types of cabbage in January 2022 are even more impressive:
- exports of cauliflower and broccoli in physical terms amounted to 3,7 thousand tons, which is 2,9 times more than in January 2021. For comparison, for the 12 months of 2021, the total export volume of cauliflower and broccoli amounted to 13,1 thousand tons;
- Chinese cabbage exports in physical terms amounted to 1,04 thousand tons, which is 15,7 times more than in January 2021. For comparison, for 12 months of 2021, the total export volume of Chinese cabbage amounted to almost the same - 1,1 thousand tons.
As for the geography of exports, 97-98% of the total exports for each type of cabbage (white, Beijing, cauliflower and broccoli) falls on the total share of three importing countries: Russia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
