The increase in irrigated areas in the region in recent years has become a strategic direction for the development of the agro-industrial complex of Stavropol. According to the head of the region, Vladimir Vladimirov, land reclamation is one of the drivers of the region's export development.
Now 60 thousand hectares are watered in the region. Irrigation of agricultural lands of the region is provided by five main canals with a length of 4 thousand km and 49 reservoirs.
- In 2020, 16 agricultural enterprises of the region put into operation new reclamation facilities, their total area amounted to almost 8 thousand hectares. Financial investments of agricultural products in these objects exceeded 1,2 billion rubles, 67% of which were compensated by the state in the form of subsidies to reimburse part of the costs (829,33 million rubles). To date, the funds of the federal and regional budgets allocated for the development of land reclamation have been fully utilized by the region, - said Vyacheslav Dryiger, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Stavropol Territory.
