The corresponding decision was made today by the commission for the prevention and elimination of emergencies of the Government of the region. Previously, an emergency was declared in 12 municipal districts.
“Prolonged rains and low temperatures over the past three months have had a significant impact first on the ripening period and yield, and then on the harvesting of a number of crops. Today the equipment is bogged down in the field, the combines have to be towed by tractors, we simply cannot collect part of the harvest, ”said the Governor of the region Oleg Kuvshinnikov.
This year, the most difficult situation is with the harvesting of flax (23% harvested), grain and leguminous crops (80%). The damage from the death of crops has already amounted to about 252 million rubles. The loss of material assets (flax trust in the tape) is tentatively estimated at 31,4 million rubles.
Today, potato harvesting continues in the region - 56,2 thousand tons have already been accumulated (81% of the planned volume), and 7,4 tons of open ground vegetables have been harvested (93% of the planned collection of vegetables). Field work, weather permitting, will continue until mid-November.
“When planning the budget for 2020, we have already allocated an additional 20 million rubles for the purchase of seeds and made changes to the procedure for subsidizing specialized equipment purchased by farmers. This will allow us to provide assistance to our enterprises on a larger scale, ”said Sergey Poromonov, head of the Department of Agriculture and Food Resources of the region.
“Despite unfavorable weather conditions, no one relieves us of our responsibility to ensure food security in the region. We must fully cover the demand of the Vologda Oblast residents for essential products. We already went through this in 2017 and successfully coped. The situation should be taken under control and measures of state support should be increased for those enterprises that need additional purchases of equipment and seed funds, ”Oleg Kuvshinnikov emphasized.
