“The products of our farmers are in great demand not only in Russia, but also abroad,” commented Vladimir Golovkov, Minister of Foreign Relations of the Astrakhan Region.
The main consumers of early potatoes are Moscow, Leningrad and Sverdlovsk regions, and abroad - Belarus and Kazakhstan. More than 2 tons and 4,5 tons of early harvest have already been shipped to these countries, respectively.
For example, in the Kamyzyaksky district, the head of the peasant farm Alexei Kiselev from the village of Razdor sent 200 tons of early potatoes to foreign consumers.
“The final destination of its products is the Republic of Belarus, where, as you know, there is enough of its own potatoes, but our Astrakhan potato ripens earlier,” said Tatyana Vdovenko, head of the regional department of agriculture.
Razdorsky farmer this season planted potatoes on an area of 35 hectares, of which 15 hectares are early, 20 are late. When planting, I used elite seeds of the Riviera variety.
“The tubers are large, even, white,” said Tatyana Vdovenko. – For irrigation, the farmer uses a drip irrigation system. Our farmers this season were also lucky with the weather, so the result is excellent.”
