A monument to potatoes was unveiled in the agricultural town Deshchenka, Minsk region. The monument is a basket of tubers raised on a large stone pedestal with the inscription: “Belarusians have three shrines: bread, salt and potatoes on a tablecloth”. The place for the monument was not chosen by chance: earlier on the territory of the agro-town there was an experimental station named after Suvorov, where breeders bred new varieties of potatoes. The first potato museum in Belarus appeared here about 10 years ago. In addition, potato festivals are held annually in the agro-town.
