Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of Dagestan Emin Shaikhgasanov visited the Levashinsky district, where he held a meeting on the situation with cabbage prices, the press service of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture reports.
The discussion was attended by the director of the Dagestan Experimental Station - a branch of the All-Russian Institute of Plant Growing Kishtili Kurkiev, the heads of the departments of agriculture of the Levashinsky and Akushinsky districts Askhabali Gadisov and Daudgadzhi Daudov, agricultural producers of the republic.
During the meeting, Emin Shaikhgasanov noted that various regulatory authorities have leverage on manufacturers and sellers who sell products at unreasonably high prices. First of all, this applies to socially significant food products, which include cabbage. Therefore, prices should be kept within reasonable limits and not negatively affect consumers and, accordingly, the economy.
“There are socially significant groups of goods. When the market price for them rises by 10% or more for a certain time, the Federal Antimonopoly Service and the authorities react to this. This is done so that the economy works, so that there are no excesses. Today we have a high price for cabbage, there is a demand for it, so they have already begun to supply it to us even from other countries, competition is being created,” the Deputy Minister said.
Kishtili Kurkiev said that Dagestan farmers have access to high-quality domestic seed material, thanks to which, for example, in the Levashinsky district, optimal cabbage yields are obtained annually.
This was confirmed by Askhabali Gadisov, who noted that at present there are sufficient stocks of cabbage in the warehouses of the municipality.
“Since October last year, we have had an unprecedented demand for cabbage. There is a demand for cabbage even today, we sell it not only on the domestic market, people come from Moscow, St. Petersburg, and the regions of the Trans-Urals for it,” explained Askhabali Gadisov.
Kishtili Kurkiev also urged to pay attention to retail chains. In his opinion, it is they who set the final price for the consumer, regardless of the conditions of the suppliers.
