Frosts and heavy rain with snow caused the death of winter crops in three farms of the Kostroma region. About this today, June 6, the press service of the governor of the region.
The damage is estimated at 5 million rubles. Crops destroyed on 210 hectares in the Susaninsky and Kostroma regions of the region. Temperature extremes and periodic freezing led not only to the death of some winter crops, but also to a delay in the start of sowing work - “there is already a slowdown in the sowing and planting of certain crops: cereals, potatoes, vegetables, herbs.” As noted in the department of the agricultural complex, similar weather in the region has not been more than 10 years. If the climatic conditions do not change, the damage can increase 100 times - up to 500 million rubles.
In connection with the situation in the affected areas, an emergency mode has been introduced.
Note that the Central Bank of Russia believes that one of the consequences of the cold spring may be a decrease in the harvest of fruits and vegetables, as well as rising prices.
