Vegetable crops are being harvested in the fields of Kabardino-Balkaria. The harvesting of cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, mid-season cabbage varieties is in full swing.
As of August 5, vegetables were harvested from an area of over 7 thousand hectares, or 111% to the same date last year. The gross harvest is about 68 thousand tons or 120% to the corresponding period of 2019.
The average yield is 10% higher than last year on the same date and is 96 c / ha.
“The increase in the yield of vegetable crops is directly related to the widespread introduction of sprinkler and micro-irrigation technologies by the agrarians of the republic, the introduction of intensive technologies of crop cultivation, the use of high-quality seed material,” explained the Minister of Agriculture of Kabardino-Balkaria Khasan Sizhazhev.
This year, vegetables have been sown on an area of 15,8 thousand hectares, which corresponds to last year's area.
Most of the areas are occupied by vegetables in the Prokhladnensky district - over 5,5 thousand hectares. Approximately the same area - an average of 2,6 thousand hectares planted with vegetables in the Tersk and Maysk regions.
Today, the leader in the yield of vegetables is the Maisky district, where 291 centners of various vegetables are harvested from one hectare, the Leskensky district is in second place with a yield of 164 centners / ha, and the Urvansky district is in third place - 106 centners / ha.
