According to the regional Ministry of Agriculture, to date, the plan for planting potatoes has been completed by 17%, and for open-field vegetables - by 10%.
400 hectares of potatoes were planted in commodity-producing farms of the region, vegetables were sown on an area of 100 hectares in Kaliningrad today, April 25, 2018, at the press service of the Government of the Kaliningrad Region.
Traditionally, the key potato producers in the region are Guryevsky, Gvardeisky, Slavsky and Bagrationovsky urban districts. The most active work is being carried out in the Guards and Slavsky municipalities. There, by the current date, potatoes have been planted at 36 and 29%, respectively, of the planned volumes.
The regional leader in the production of vegetables in the open field is Guryevsky District. It is planned to sow 500 hectares there. To date, 15% of the plan has been implemented.
At the moment, the Kaliningrad region is the only one in the Northwestern Federal District where potatoes and vegetables are planted.
As noted in the regional Ministry of Agriculture, this year the sown area under potatoes and vegetables will remain at the level of last year.
In general, spring crops predominate in the structure of the sown area. At the moment they are sown a third of the plan - on an area of 36,5 thousand hectares. Spring sowing (excluding spring-summer sowing of perennial grasses) is planned to be carried out on an area of 100 thousand hectares - this is 6% more than in 2017.
The maximum areas for spring crops are planned to be sown in Nesterovsky (13 thousand hectares), Gusevsky (11,5 thousand hectares) and Pravdinsky urban districts (10 thousand hectares). In these municipalities, spring crops are sown by 45, 39 and 42%, respectively.
The total sown area for the harvest of 2018 will be 240 thousand hectares (at the level of last year).
