This was reported by the portal ElDala.kz with reference to the page of the chairman of the board of the Union of Potato and Vegetable Growers of Kazakhstan Kairat Bisetaev on Facebook.
Last week in Kazakhstan, during the visit of the heads of the leading agro-industrial companies of the Netherlands, investment agreements in the amount of 100 billion tenge were signed. In particular, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Union of Potato and Vegetable Growers of Kazakhstan and the Solynta company.
“Solynta is the only one in the world (as far as I know) to have achieved the ability to sow potatoes with seeds, not tubers. Throughout the past century, scientists have tried to do this, but to no avail, ”said Kairat Bisetaev.
At the same time, he noted that the tubers have a number of serious drawbacks: they must be stored in warehouses with temperatures in the range of + 1..4 C and in large volumes - 3 tons per hectare. In addition, tubers are susceptible to viral, bacterial and fungal diseases. Before laying and before planting, they must be sorted out.
“And so the Dutch managed to somehow solve unsolvable problems, and now they can produce potato seeds. Small in size, about the size of carrot seeds, they do not require special storage conditions, and their number per hectare will fit in a liter plastic bottle. Today we are the happy owners of two tiny, but extremely significant bags of these seeds, ”said Kairat Bisetaev.
According to him, the miracle seeds will be tested in Kazakhstani fields.
