On March 23, at a meeting of the Scientific and Technical Council of the Department of Agroindustrial Complex of the Kostroma Region, a research work on the development of a technology for growing winter garlic was considered.
The work was carried out in 2022 on the basis of LLC "Volzhskiye Dali" (Nerekhtsky district) together with scientists from the Kostroma State Agricultural Academy.
The novelty of the work lies in the fact that for the first time in the conditions of the Kostroma region, an agroecological assessment of three varieties of winter garlic (Petrovsky, Lyubasha, Shadeika) was carried out and the effect of water-soluble fertilizers on the growth, development and formation of crop productivity was revealed.
It is worth noting that garlic as an agricultural crop for the region is new and has not been grown on an industrial scale in the Kostroma region before. In general, the need for garlic in Russia is covered by domestic products only by 20%, the rest is imported, mainly from China.
The agricultural enterprise was satisfied with the results obtained during the research. Last fall, the planting area was increased to 2,5 hectares. There are also plans to continue work on adapting the technology for growing winter garlic to the conditions of our region.
