Agrarians of the Novosibirsk region have reached the finish line for harvesting potatoes, reports official website of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia. As of October 7, 3252 hectares have been harvested - 95%. Gross harvest exceeded 60 thousand tons.
In 2022, the agrarians of the region, solving the problem of providing residents of the region with locally produced potatoes, increased the sown area of this crop by almost 700 hectares - up to 3,4 thousand hectares.
“The self-sufficiency of the Novosibirsk Region with potatoes is just over 80 percent, so developing our own vegetable and potato growing is perhaps the top priority task for the agro-industrial complex of our region now,” emphasized Evgeny Leshchenko, Deputy Chairman of the Government, Minister of Agriculture of the Novosibirsk Region. - Of course, vegetable and potato producers, like other agricultural producers, enjoy the current federal and regional state support, but additional measures must be taken to more actively develop this sector in the region. We have begun to develop a program of state support for this industry in the Novosibirsk Region.”
Half of the gross potato harvest this year - 30 thousand tons - was provided by the farms of the Novosibirsk region, and the region has already completed harvesting. 15 agricultural enterprises, large and small, that were engaged in growing potatoes here, received an average yield of 225 centners per hectare, and in some farms, for example, at the Morskoy State Farm, it reached 340 centners per hectare.
“Last year, on this date, we had 90% of harvested areas and 26 tons of gross potato harvest. Based on all the results obtained, this year's potato harvesting can be considered successful!
The second largest potato producer in the NSO is the Ordynsky district, which has currently harvested 19 thousand tons of potatoes from 95% of the harvested area.
