In 18 municipalities of the Orenburg region, an emergency regime was introduced due to drought. The decree was signed by the first vice-governor Sergei Balykin.
The emergency regime was introduced on the territory of Adamovsky, Akbulaksky, Belyaevsky, Dombarovsky, Kvarkensky, Novoorsky, Orenburgsky, Sakmarsky, Saraktashsky, Svetlinsky districts, Gaysky, Kuvandyksky, Sol-Iletsky, Yasnensky urban districts, the cities of Orenburg, Orsk, Novogotsk, Medroitsk.
A headquarters for assistance to farmers has been formed in the region. The Ministry of Agriculture of the Orenburg Region will calculate the damage to farmers and send the results for examination to the Federal Ministry of Agriculture.
Due to atmospheric and soil drought, as well as dry winds, agricultural crops died on an area of more than 100 thousand hectares. When the air was heated to 42 degrees, the temperature on the soil surface reached 58-60 degrees.
