Prices for almost all goods that the news agency included in the list, with the exception of two items, continued to change. A similar trend was observed in April, March and February. We monthly analyze the cost of a number of social products in three chain stores in the city and in one market. The table below shows the average price of each item.
May prices decreased by some types of vegetables (tomatoes, cucumbers, cabbage and garlic), milk, sunflower oil, pork, sugar, salt, eggs, pasta and a number of cereals (long grain rice, peas, rolled oats, buckwheat). Also this month went up potatoes, carrots, beets, onions, butter, beef, flour, millet, loaf, mushrooms and cheese. The prices remained unchanged only for chicken thigh and Peklevanny bread.
The most significant growth was observed in the cost of onions (+ 29,46%), beets (+ 22,79%) and potatoes (+ 20,76%). Most of all fell in price for cucumbers (-41,2%), tomatoes (-37,43%), cabbage (-30,08%) and eggs (-25,32%).
Note that we included in the monitoring list products of those brands that can be found in every store and on the market (for example, milk, sunflower oil, flour, etc.), as well as the most budgetary and common types of meat. Among several varieties of vegetables and cereals, preference was given to the cheapest.
The news agency draws attention to the fact that this material does not claim to be expert accuracy - it is a popular monitoring of prices in order to track possible changes.
Recall that on January 1, 2019, the law on the increase in VAT, adopted by the State Duma, came into force, the percentage increased from 18 to 20. The news agency will continue to monitor prices.
Earlier, the Penza-Press news agency reported that the Penza region retains its positions in terms of the presence of the lowest prices for a number of products in the Volga region.
