PepsiCo, the largest potato processor in Russia, together with Research.me conducted a study on the taste preferences and activities of citizens on self-isolation. Potatoes bypassed buckwheat as the most popular side dish.
More than 80% of Russians choose potatoes for garnish. It is such a percentage of respondents who noted that during the period of self-isolation they were tired of buckwheat and cereals in general. Despite massive purchases of buckwheat, potatoes have become the most popular side dish for the main course.
The top 3 favorite potato dishes of Russians were: fried potatoes (29%), fried potatoes with mushrooms (27%) and mashed potatoes (25%). And the most unpopular dish was boiled potatoes. Many residents of our country prefer to conduct self-isolation in the country.
One of the key activities of suburban life - truck farming - has also undergone changes. This year, half of the respondents planted cucumbers or tomatoes in the country, while in 2019, the most popular crops were potatoes and carrots, but flowers were planted less often.
