A large batch of potatoes from Pakistan was not allowed into St. Petersburg. Employees of the Regional Office of Rosselkhoznadzor carried out phytosanitary control of 540 tons of ware potatoes from Pakistan in the seaport of the northern capital.
During the inspection of products, it turned out that some potato tubers have damage characteristic of potato moth larvae.
Potato samples were sent to the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Leningrad Interregional Veterinary Laboratory” to more accurately determine the type of pest. As a result, experts confirmed the presence of a quarantine pest larvae in the potato - a potato moth.
The owner of the cargo received a notice banning the import of an infected batch of quarantine potatoes. By order, the owner of the product must either disinfect the batch or destroy it.
