The Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Moscow Region, Sergei Voskresensky, took part in the opening of a specially created hostel for convicts who are employed at an agricultural enterprise in the Kolomna urban district of the Moscow Region.
“People sentenced to forced labor will be employed at the enterprise for the production of agricultural crops“ Severka ”of the group of companies JSC“ Malino ”. In the agro-industrial complex of the Moscow region, especially during the main harvest season and the active period of the fight against hogweed, additional labor resources are needed. And the residents of the Moscow region who are serving their sentences have the opportunity to work in their region, the confidence of their importance, necessity and quick social adaptation, "said Sergei Voskresensky.
It should be noted that criminal punishment in the form of forced labor is an alternative to imprisonment for committing crimes of little or medium gravity. Also, forced labor can be imposed on convicts in connection with the replacement of the punishment in the form of imprisonment with a milder type of punishment.
The hostel is designed for 50 people.
They will live and work here in accordance with labor legislation on the basis of the enterprise and receive wages. Also, the convicts will pay for the living conditions in the hostel.
“This is the first experience. In the future, we plan to increase such hostels in the Moscow region. In particular, three such hostels will be opened on the territory of the Malino group of companies. The convicts in them will be employed in professions that are relevant in the agro-industrial complex of the region, ”concluded Sergei Voskresensky.
“Our department, in cooperation with the Government of the Moscow Region and the business community, is working to expand the network and open new correctional centers in the Moscow Region. It is important that residents of the Moscow region will be able to serve their sentences at their place of residence, which will help preserve their socially useful and family ties. They will be employed in accordance with the Labor Code, which means that, first of all, they will compensate for the damage caused, pay alimony, ”stressed the head of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Moscow Region, Major General of the Internal Service Alexander Vetrov.
