The market for white cabbage in Russia is experiencing a rapid rise in prices, according to analysts of the EastFruit project. Considering the decrease in the volume of medium cabbage on farms, farmers began to restrain sales of quality products, which led to a rise in prices this week.
So, today selling prices for cabbage on farms have already risen to 11-18 rubles / kg ($ 0,17-0,28 / kg), which is on average 11% more than at the end of last working week.
According to market participants, due to a sharp cooling in most of the territory of the Russian Federation, this week many farmers were forced to suspend harvesting late cabbage. As a result, the supply of cabbage in the market fell sharply. At the same time, the demand for products, according to market participants, remains quite high, which allows farmers to further increase the price.
It is worth adding that at the moment cabbage in Russia is on average 10% more expensive than in the same period last year. At the same time, market players do not exclude the possibility that at the beginning of next week, prices for these products may begin to decline when later varieties of cabbage begin to massively enter the market.
