According to the analysts of the EastFruit project, the downward trend in prices for early potatoes continues in Russia due to the increase in its supply on the market. According to the daily monitoring of the project, harvesting of early potatoes is now in full swing in the Krasnodar Territory, Astrakhan, Rostov Regions, as well as in the Stavropol Territory.
According to market participants, the improvement of weather conditions in the main regions of production allowed local farmers to accelerate the pace of harvesting early potatoes, which ultimately led to a significant increase in market supply.
As a result, the price of products began to decline sharply, and since last week, early potatoes in Russia fell by an average of 22%. Today, local manufacturers are ready to ship these products at 16-26 rubles / kg ($ 0,34-0,46 / kg). For comparison, last week, farmers sold early potatoes no cheaper than 20 rubles / kg ($ 0,43).
We add that despite a significant reduction in prices, at the moment potatoes in the Russian market are on average 43% more expensive than at the end of June last year. At the same time, many producers talk about good types of crops and are confident that the price of potatoes will only decrease in the near future.
