The rapid decline in the supply of high-quality marketable potatoes in the Russian market leads to the fact that producers begin to raise prices even for low-quality products, project analysts say Eastfruit.
Also this week, the price of high-quality potatoes has risen again in Russia. This was due to a rather limited supply in the market, as well as a fairly high sales rate for these products. At the same time, in the new crop potato segment, the entire supply volume was still comprised of imported products, the price of which was several times higher than last year's local potato. It also supported prices.
So, today Russian farmers sell high-quality potatoes at a price of 14-23 rubles / kg ($ 0,19-0,31 / kg), which is on average 15% more than at the end of the previous week.
Meanwhile, Egypt remains the main supplier of early potatoes to the Russian market; small volumes are also imported from Pakistan. For sale, imported potatoes are currently offered at a price of 36-40 rubles / kg ($ 0,49-0,54 / kg).
At the same time, it is worth noting that potato prices in Russia at the moment are already on average 27% higher than in the same period last year.
