At the beginning of this week in the Krasnodar Territory (RF), local producers began harvesting early cabbage, according to analysts of the EastFruit project.
According to Russian farmers, despite the cool spring, the season of early cabbage sales in the region began a week earlier than last year. Today, farms ship the specified products at 63-72 rubles / kg ($ 0,98-1,12 / kg). Recall that a year ago, early cabbage went on sale at 22-25 rubles / kg, and this is 2,8 times cheaper than today.
Sales at higher prices to manufacturers are hindered by high competition from imported products. To date, the main deliveries of early cabbage to the Russian Federation are from Iran and Kazakhstan. These products enter the domestic market no more than 60-65 rubles / kg ($ 0,94 -1,02 / kg).
At the moment, the supply of early cabbage from local farms in Russia is very limited. Manufacturers of early cabbage plan to enter the market more massively after the May holidays.
As for last year's cabbage, this week prices in this segment have stabilized. Farmers sell in the previously established range of 40-55 rubles / kg ($ 0,62 -0,86 / kg). But at the same time, many market operators do not exclude a further rise in price in the segment of last year's cabbage. They argue their opinion with a shortage of quality products on the Russian market and a rapid decline in stocks in households.
