The total number of agricultural organizations in Russia decreased by 2016% from 2021 to 9, Igor Vasiliev, Deputy Head of Rosstat, said during a round table in Barnaul on the preliminary results of the agricultural microcensus, reports IA "Finmarket".
“According to the results of the micro-census, agriculture has undergone a number of serious changes over the past 5 years, one of the main trends is the consolidation of rural farms. Compared to 2016, the number of agricultural organizations decreased by 9%, the number of peasant farms decreased by a third, against the background of a decrease in the number of agricultural producers, the average size of farms is increasing,” Vasiliev noted.
The area of agricultural land in the organized sector (agricultural organizations and peasant farms) has decreased by 8%, or 10 million hectares, over five years.
Vasiliev clarified that the total sown area in the organized sector increased by 1 million hectares, a slight decrease was recorded for grains and legumes, for vegetables the area decreased by 15%, for fodder - by 18%, for potatoes - by 19%, for industrial crops — increased by 30%.
The area of land in agricultural organizations decreased by almost 12 million hectares, while the share of land used increased. As for the sown areas, the reduction in agricultural organizations affected all groups of crops, except for industrial crops (an increase of 2,5 million hectares), the largest decrease is observed in fodder crops.
“Based on the preliminary results of the micro-census, we can conclude that one of the main trends was the consolidation of organizations. The efficiency of the use of farmland is improving, the area under industrial crops is growing,” Vasilyev emphasized.
