The Rosinformagrotech Institute has developed a laser installation that will reduce the use of pesticides and fertilizers for plants by 20-30%. This will be possible thanks to a more accurate calculation of the spray area of the chemicals. Reducing the amount of pesticides and fertilizers used will reduce their concentration in vegetables, as well as reduce the cost of production. Fertilizer and insecticide manufacturers are confident that the use of such technologies can be quite effective.
Scientists of the Federal State Scientific Institution "Rosinformagrotech", subordinate to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, told Izvestia about a new invention - a laser device that can accurately estimate the amount of fertilizers and chemicals sprayed by sprayers on the fields. All drugs that prevent diseases of crops and protect them from insect pests have certain consumption rates per hectare - from 1 kg to 0,1 kg or more. Such fertilizers are applied to the plants using sprayers that do not differ in the accuracy of the dosage of the sprayed substance.
- Now, with the help of special registration cards placed on agricultural plots, not all liquid is evaluated. Small drops that drift outside the cultivated land and evaporate, as well as those substances that roll off the plants, contaminating the soil, are not taken into account, ”said Vyacheslav Fedorenko, director of Rosinformagrotekh. “And with the help of our development, the amount of chemicals will be determined much more accurately.
The invention of Russian scientists is a pulsed laser beam that records data on liquid spraying and transfers them to a computer. It is proposed to be used in the production of sprayers, as well as to be placed in the fields - with its help it will be possible to correctly determine the required dose of the sprayed substance. According to the developers, this will reduce the use of fertilizers and insecticides by 20-30%.
- At the moment, Rosinformagrotech is carrying out field tests of the laser installation. After their completion, we will send the project to agricultural machine builders with a proposal for cooperation and launching production. So far, there are no agreements with specific enterprises. But we hope to receive a response, since our development complies with the government decree on the scientific and technical support of agriculture, added the director of the institute.
The developers are confident that the new technology will also reduce the environmental load on the soil and reduce the content of harmful substances in food from agricultural producers.
Andrei Nikitin, head of the Federal Center for Toxicological, Radiation and Biological Safety, agrees that laser technologies will help in agriculture. He said that he is familiar with the development of Rosinformagrotech and sees the potential for its production.
- Fertilizers and chemicals are applied without correct calculations. And a laser beam can certainly fix that. I attended the presentation of the invention and was impressed by it. Companies involved in the production of agricultural machinery should pay attention to it, he said.
Manufacturers of agrochemical products do not see obstacles for the use of laser beams in the household.
“It is not easy to estimate the volumes of a chemical liquid being sprayed because one drop breaks up into many small fractions. This increases the coverage area, and it is rather difficult to calculate it. Of course, the use of laser beams seems to be something fantastic so far. However, let's hope that this will turn out to be an effective method, ”said Natalya Khromchenkova, head of Agrokhimservice LLC.
