The authorities of the Stavropol Territory are developing a concept for the development of vegetable growing, the implementation of which will increase the area, production volume and help build interaction between farmers and retail chains, wholesale, retail markets and other places of sale of products. This was announced on Friday by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the region Dmitry Frolko.
An appeal was prepared to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation on state support for farmers engaged in the production of greenhouse vegetables and potatoes, as well as on increasing cost recovery in the construction and modernization of vegetable and potato storage facilities.
The provision with vegetables in the region is 95% of the medical norm, the "borsch set" - 60%, potatoes - 87%.
According to the ministry, the Stavropol region is in fourth place in the Russian Federation for the production of vegetables in greenhouses. In the production structure of the current year, the main share is made up of tomatoes (54 thousand tons), cucumbers (19 thousand tons) and other vegetables (0,3 thousand tons).
