The Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Poland held a video conference with the participation of the leadership of the khokimiyat of the Kashkadarya region and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry "Poland-Uzbekistan", during which the plan for the implementation of the investment project "Production of seed potatoes in Uzbekistan using the in vitro method" was discussed. IA "Dunyo".
The cost of the project is $ 11,5 million. The partners from the Polish side are the Poland-Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce, the Potato Center of the Institute for Acclimatization and Plant Cultivation and the Zamarte Seed Potato Cultivation Center.
The project involves the construction of an in vitro laboratory, premises with an area of 1 thousand sq. M. for refrigeration units, greenhouses with an area of 5 hectares. It is also planned to send special equipment and planting material in the form of microplants for the production of seed material for planting in open ground on an area of 200 hectares. Representatives of the khokimiyat of the Kashkadarya region reported that the region needs 5-10 thousand tons of seed potatoes.
The head of the Polish-Uzbek Chamber of Commerce and Industry Piotr Kozlovsky informed about the readiness of the Polish side to begin the implementation of this project, noting that it provides for the use of drip irrigation.
The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Poland Bahrom Babayev proposed to allocate an additional 20-30 hectares of land for the organization of an experimental training ground, where Uzbek farmers and dehkans could learn and adopt the experience of Poland in the field of growing seed potatoes. He pointed out that the implementation of the investment project will help increase the supply of high-quality seed potatoes to the domestic market of Uzbekistan, and in the future - for export to foreign countries.
This project will also contribute to the development and implementation of a potato seed production system, which will allow Uzbekistan to achieve independence in this matter and provide fields with seed potatoes.
