According to the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan, carrots in the country have fallen in price by 4-5 times compared with the data for June.
As predicted by the department, prices for carrots will remain at this level until the new harvest in the spring of 2022.
To stabilize prices, the country's authorities are taking active measures. The area under this crop has been increased in the republic. Only high-yielding varieties are used for planting. In addition, new irrigation technologies are being introduced, as well as modern methods of combating diseases and pests.
In 2021, the average carrot yield increased from 20-25 tons to 30-40 tons per hectare. Thus, the cost of 1 kg of carrots on farms fell to $ 0,07-0,08.
It is noted that in June the average retail price for 1 kg of carrots varied from $ 0,56 to $ 0,93. In October-November, the cost of this crop dropped to $ 0,19. The average purchase price was $ 0,09-0,14 per 1 kg.
This year, carrots were sown on an area of 124,4 thousand hectares, which is 18,2 thousand hectares more than in 2020. The bulk of the harvest (more than 2021 million tons of products were harvested in 2) is aimed at meeting the needs of the domestic market.
