The rate of planting vegetables and potatoes in Transbaikalia is twice as high as in 2021, said the Minister of Agriculture of the region Denis Bochkarev, the press service of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture reports.
“Agricultural organizations of the region have started planting carrots and beets. To date, farmers have planted vegetables on an area of 45 hectares, or 40% of the plan. This is double the level of 2021 at the same date. Farmers will start planting cabbage next week. In total, open ground vegetables will be planted on an area of 114 hectares,” the head of the regional Ministry of Agriculture explained.
In addition, since the beginning of the year, agricultural enterprises have planted greenhouse vegetables on an area of 20 hectares. At the moment, 100 tons of cucumbers have already been produced in the greenhouse complexes of Transbaikalia.
It should be noted that agricultural producers of the region continue planting potatoes. Currently, this crop is planted on an area of 300 hectares, which is also twice as high as in 2021.
