The Russian environmental operator and the Russian fast food chain Vkusno-i Tochka launched a waste recycling project. Starting from January 2023, an inscription calling for separate collection of waste will appear on the packaging of the chain's products. The collected recyclables will be sent for recycling.
“REO actively cooperates with companies whose activities comply with the principles of sustainable development. From 2023, calls for separate collection of waste will appear in the food network in Moscow. QR codes will be placed on the food packages, by clicking on them, guests will be able to learn more about the project and the waste reform in our country. Separately collected waste, cardboard packaging and cups will be sent for recycling. This work is being carried out as part of building a circular economy and creating a new model of behavior that is more environmentally friendly and conscious,” said Denis Butsaev, CEO.
“Our goal as part of our sustainability strategy is to implement solutions that reduce, reuse and recycle packaging and other waste. By consistently implementing this strategy together with the Russian Ecological Operator, involving our partners, suppliers and millions of our guests across the country, we are making our contribution to the development of the circular economy in Russia,” emphasized Irina Korshunova, Senior Director for Sustainable Development of the Vkusno — And Dot ".
"Tasty - and that's it" seeks to recycle 4 fractions: cardboard, used cooking oil, coffee cake and uniforms.
A pilot project for the separate collection of waste in the halls of "Tasty - and the point", which has already started in Moscow, is planned to be distributed throughout the country. It is important that the packaging is free of food and liquid residues, so food residues should be discarded and liquids poured into a mixed waste container.
The company already annually sends for processing at least 2500 tons of cardboard from transport packaging and about 5000 tons of cooking oil (for comparison, this is more than 80 railway tanks), of which about 3000 tons are transferred for processing into biodiesel fuel, and about 2000 tons are sent for processing in laundry soap and lubricants. Since 2022, the processing of used frying oil into biofuel has been completely localized and, for the first time in Russia, is carried out by domestic partners of Vkusno — and that’s it.
Moscow enterprises are testing and debugging procedures for collecting such a useful type of waste as coffee cake, which can be used in various industries. In 2023, Vkusno and Tochka enterprises in St. Petersburg will also join the pilot project.
In order to return the maximum amount of used clothing and textiles to the economic cycle, the Moscow-based Vkusno-i Tochka enterprises began a pilot project to transfer uniforms for recycling. Currently, testing and debugging of storage and disposal procedures is being carried out.
