At the beginning of the year, 82 tons of potatoes were exported from the Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan, but another 000 tons of this root crop remain unrealized. This was stated by Vice Prime Minister Kubatbek Boronov, speaking at a meeting of the republican parliament.
“They say they can't sell, the potatoes are rotting. But we cannot get information about such facts from the heads of district administrations, ”said a high-ranking official.
He also noted that the supply of potatoes to neighboring Uzbekistan will be restored within the next week - after the Kyrgyz authorities settle the issue with the government of Kazakhstan, which has banned the transit of potatoes and some other agricultural products through its territory.
“Now there are potential buyers from Azerbaijan who have held negotiations with the ministry on the purchase of 2 tons of potatoes,” the First Deputy Prime Minister summed up.
IA REGNUM reminds that earlier Kyrgyz agrarians complained that they are suffering big losses while growing potatoes. They also complained that resellers were buying potatoes from them at an extremely low price.
