As part of the Army-2018 international military-technical forum and the National Security Week forum, an international scientific and practical conference dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the institute was held at the All-Russian Research Institute of Phytopathology.
In August 1958, the All-Russian Research Institute of Phytopathology was organized on the basis of the Moscow Plant Protection Station, the Bitsevsky Agricultural College and the Institute of Horse Breeding by a special Government Decree and an order of the USSR Ministry of Agriculture. The institute conducted research and developed a methodology for countering phytosanitary biological threats and expansion. A specialized network of border and regional observation and forecast points was established; a system of aviation phytosanitary control was organized, methods for monitoring and forecasting especially dangerous diseases were developed, technologies for the prevention of artificial epiphytoties, and in case of their occurrence, localization and elimination were developed. Currently, the main activities of the institute: conducting theoretical, fundamental and applied research in the field of phytopathology, agricultural plants, the development of methods and technologies for protecting crops from the most dangerous diseases and weeds, aimed at increasing their productivity, improving product quality and reducing its cost. For the first time in the country, the features of the occurrence and development of mass outbreaks of the most dangerous plant diseases were investigated, methods for their phytosanitary monitoring and forecasts were developed, a national system for the prevention of dangerous phytosanitary situations was created.
The Institute controls the structure of pest populations in different regions of Russia, changes in their virulent potential, the degree and types of resistance of cultivated varieties. The strategy and tactics of creating varieties with long-lasting immunity to the most dangerous pathogens have been developed.
Transgenic plants of a number of crops with new useful properties have been created; The concept of testing transgenic plants for biosafety has been developed.
The scientific basis for the creation and use of fundamentally new bio-pesticides that are safe for the environment has been developed.
Mathematical models and computer programs for the development and spread of pests in time and space have been created.
On August 22, the Institute hosted a scientific and practical conference “Modern Technologies for Agricultural Plant Cultivation - A Look into the Future”. Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Vladimir Andreevich Zakharenko, representatives of the scientific community, heads of industrial enterprises of the agro-industrial complex, agricultural producers from numerous regions of the Russian Federation addressed the audience with a welcoming speech.
In scientific speeches and reports, the most pressing problems of basic and applied research, personnel policy issues, as well as the interaction of state institutions and private companies were touched upon.
All-Russian Research Institute of Phytopathology should become a focal point for the selection of agricultural plants for immunity, the development of seed production, and the production of organic products based on the biologization of production.
Director of the All-Russian Research Institute of Phytopathology, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences Aleksey Pavlovich Glinushkin awarded certificates of honor to agricultural workers for their great contribution to the development of scientific and technological support for the agricultural sector of the Russian Federation and in connection with the 60th anniversary of the institute.
Under the chairmanship of an employee of the Institute, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Mikhail Sergeyevich Sokolov, a round table was held on “Soil health - a guarantee of food security”, in which representatives of the People’s Republic of China participated.
The forum participants visited the experimental production base of the institute, where they got acquainted with the demonstration and exhibition crops that showed the influence of cultivation technologies on the growth and development of plants of the most popular varieties of agricultural plants from the North Caucasus, Southern and Central Federal Districts of the Russian Federation in the context of global climate change.
New varieties of agricultural plants created by scientists of the All-Russian Research Institute of Phytopathology, biologized cultivation technologies, methods for monitoring the phytosanitary condition of varieties and pre-breeding analysis of the source material were demonstrated.
Then all those present proceeded to the plenary meeting of the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Fundamental and Applied Aspects of Food Security”, held at the Patriot Exhibition and Convention Center.
As part of the anniversary events, a regional meeting of the National Union of Breeders and Seed Breeders was held at the VNIIF Federal State Budgetary Institution, which discussed the problems of collecting royalties, the development of selection and seed production as part of a public-private partnership. At the suggestion of the Union members, it was proposed that the executive of the head of the regional representative office in the Moscow region appoint the head of the research and innovation center of the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute for Research and Development VNIIF, Viktor Ivanovich Startsev, and also recommend the head of the SeDeK company Irina Nikolaevna Dubinina as a member of the Council of the NSSiS.
