In Russia, fines will be increased against those manufacturers who write false information on their products about compliance with GOST, and those who conceal information about the use of GMOs in products, Izvestia reports.
The new Code of Administrative Offenses (CAO) introduced a separate fine for those who deceive consumers and write on their product or product that it is manufactured according to GOST, while this information is not true. If a lie is discovered, the manufacturer will have to pay a fine, the maximum amount of which is 800 thousand rubles, that is, 300 thousand more than now.
Another change in the Code of Administrative Offenses also concerns the tightening of financial liability for false information. And this is not about manufacturers, but about those who must control them and identify violations. So, if a laboratory issues a protocol for researching or testing products and goods without actually conducting them, then it will face a fine of one million rubles (in the previous version, the maximum fine was 500 thousand rubles).
Repeated violation of technical regulations will result in a negligent producer with a fine of 1,5 million rubles, and hiding information on the use of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in the manufacture of food products - a million rubles.
