The Interdepartmental Commission on Foreign Trade Policy and Participation in International Economic Organizations of the Republic of Kazakhstan decided to approve the introduction of a complete ban on the export of potatoes and carrots from the country for a period of 3 months.
The harvest of potatoes and carrots harvested this year is sufficient for domestic consumption and maintaining export potential. In neighboring countries, a relatively low harvest is observed, which entails increased demand and additional pressure on prices in the domestic market. The decision to approve the ban on the export of potatoes and carrots from the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan was made to eliminate the occurrence of a deficit in the domestic market and stabilize prices.
The restrictions will come into effect at the end of December. During the month, the country's agriculture ministry will carry out daily monitoring and market analysis. When the situation stabilizes, the issue of lifting restrictive measures will be considered.
