LLC "Zolskiy potato" was founded in 2011, the company specializes in growing food and seed potatoes of high reproductions.
The work is carried out in the mountainous and foothill zones of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic. This location was not chosen by chance. At an altitude of 1000-2000 meters above sea level, there are practically no insects that are carriers of viral potato diseases. The low infectious background of the highlands allows the use of agrochemistry to a lesser extent, which makes the products much more environmentally friendly.
More than 200 tons of crops are harvested from fields of 5 hectares, both new and already proven varieties and hybrids of potatoes.
During the growing season, the company's specialists carry out three-fold phyto- and variety cleaning, and harvesting is done manually. The harvested crop is carefully selected and calibrated to size.
On the basis of the company, a laboratory for growing minitubers was created. It is equipped with a hydroeroponic plant, which increases the yield tenfold. In 2017, with the assistance of the Ministry of Agriculture of the KBR, Zolsky Potato LLC launched a greenhouse for growing minitubers.
Since 2018, "Zolsky Potato" has been participating in the implementation of a comprehensive scientific and technical project "Production of high-quality seed potatoes of competitive domestic varieties in a virus-free environment of the mountainous zone of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic" (as part of the subprogram "Development of potato breeding and seed production in the Russian Federation" -technical program for the development of agriculture for 2017-2025). Together with scientific partners, the company is working on the creation of four new varieties of potatoes.
The priority tasks of the company are to improve the quality and increase the quantity of products grown.
