The report said that in 2019 the global potato market grew by 6% to $ 140,5 billion, with growth being noted for the third year in a row after two years of decline. Market value increased by an average of 3,0% per year from 2007 to 2019. Consumption by country
In the list of countries with the highest potato consumption in 2019, the leading positions were taken by China (93 million tons), India (51 million tons) and Ukraine (23 million tons), whose combined share in world consumption was 45%. These countries were followed by Russia, the USA, Bangladesh, Germany, Poland, the Netherlands, Canada and Belarus, which together accounted for another 23%.
In value terms, only China was the leader ($ 52,3 billion). The second position in the ranking was taken by India ($ 10,5 billion). The United States followed.
The highest rates of potato consumption per capita in 2019 were observed in Belarus (591 kg per person), Ukraine (521 kg per person) and the Netherlands (350 kg per person).
Production 2007-2019
In 2019, potato production worldwide reached 371 million tons, an increase of 2,1% compared to the previous year. Total production increased by an average of 1,6% year on year from 2007 to 2019; the trend remained unchanged, with some notable fluctuations in individual years. World production peaked in 2019 and is expected to maintain growth in the coming years.

Country Export
In 2019, the main exporters of potatoes were France (3,5 million tons), Germany (1,9 million tons), the Netherlands (1,8 million tons), Belgium (1 million tons) and Egypt (0,7 million tons), which accounted for 60% of total exports.
