According to the newspaper "Altai truth", Altai farmer Andrei Platonov signed a two-year contract for the supply of raw materials to the still unbuilt Novosibirsk plant for the production of Lay's chips.
According to the agreement, this year the farm has planted 20 tons of Newton seed potatoes. Also, this season, the enterprise undertakes to grow ware potatoes of the BP-808 variety (these products will be taken away for processing in the Moscow region in the fall).
Next year, the farmer will set aside one hundred hectares for ware potatoes, which will be used for chips. The contract has already indicated the price at which the plant will buy these products in September 2021 - 12,50 rubles per kilogram.
Andrey Platonov said that he already has seven years of experience in growing potato chips, during which time more than thirty varieties have been tested in his fields.
“As a result, Lady Claire, Newton and BP-808 proved to be the best in our zone,” says the farmer. And he emphasizes: “The requirements of the potato manufacturer for the potato quality are very strict. The harvest is assessed by many parameters, including measuring the level of sugars and starch in tubers. If sugar, for example, jumps, then the tubers will darken, this will affect the appearance of the chips. This is unacceptable. "
Note also that raw materials for the plant for the production of chips will be grown in several farms of the Altai Territory.
