On August 2, at a weekly operational meeting chaired by Governor Alexei Dyumin, the start of the harvesting campaign in the region was discussed.
The Minister of Agriculture of the Tula Region Alexei Stepin reported that the sown area for the harvest in 2021 is 934 thousand hectares. The region grows cereals and legumes, fodder crops.
At the end of July, the agrarians started threshing winter grain crops and harvesting rapeseed. More than 425 thousand tons of grain were harvested from an area of about 115 thousand hectares and 10 thousand tons of rapeseed from an area of 4 thousand hectares.
Alexey Stepin also dwelled on the topic of pricing for mineral fertilizers. According to him, in order to reduce and maintain prices, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia plan to conclude agreements with manufacturers and suppliers of products. This will allow us to fix prices at the current level and provide farmers with additional discounts.
Based on the weather conditions that have developed this year (hot weather, rare rains), the sowing dates have been shifted. In this regard, the minister predicted a decline in the yield of grain crops and potatoes. Monitoring of the risks of crop destruction is carried out on a weekly basis in each farm. Alexey Dyumin instructed the minister to keep the situation under control.
