The operational results of the agricultural microcensus indicate an increase in the number of personal subsidiary plots in some regions of the Russian Federation, as well as a twofold increase in farmland per farm. This was reported to TASS on Monday in the information center for agricultural microcensus - 2021.
“Firstly, if we focus on operational data, then in some regions we see an increase in the number of personal subsidiary plots. In some regions, the growth is about 10%. Secondly, we see the dynamic development of small businesses. Operational results show a doubling of the area of agricultural land per one peasant (farm) holding and individual entrepreneur. Thirdly, we see that a part of agricultural organizations and farms is expanding: their total number is decreasing, but the area of land they use is growing, ”the deputy head of Rosstat, Konstantin Laikam, was quoted in the center. The observed increase in the number of personal subsidiary plots and the development of small forms of farming is important from the point of view of ensuring food security and reducing the risks of rising food prices.
“More than half of the total volume of potatoes produced in the country, for example, are private subsidiary plots. Any changes in this segment affect the market tremendously. The volume of production of potatoes and vegetables began to decline - prices went up, ”explained Laikam.
According to Rosstat, in 2020 more than 20 million people were engaged in the cultivation of agricultural products in the country, the total volume of agricultural products produced in the country was 6,5 trillion rubles, while about 1/3 of agricultural products were grown on personal subsidiary plots.
The agricultural microcensus took place in Russia from August 1 to 30, 2021. In fact, 46% of personal subsidiary and other individual farms of citizens were covered with the sampling rate provided for by law at least 30% of objects. The total coverage of the microcensus was, according to preliminary estimates, 16,9 million agricultural producers. The results of the census should be summed up in the IV quarter of 2021, published - by the end of the IV quarter of 2022.
