This year in Dagestan, open ground vegetables are cultivated on an area of 41 hectares. According to the operational data of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Dagestan, as of September 30, the crop was harvested from most of the territory (more than 28,8 thousand hectares), reports official website of the organization. Cleaning work continues. So far, 968 thousand tons of vegetables have been received, the average yield is at the level of 335 q/ha.
The most large-scale cultivation of open ground vegetables is carried out in Levashinsky, Derbent, Khasavyurt, Kizlyar, Magaramkent, Akushinsky and Kizilyurt regions. These 7 districts account for more than 70% of vegetable plantations in Dagestan. In the structure of vegetable production in Dagestan, more than 50% is occupied by cabbage, more than 22% - by tomatoes, and cucumbers, carrots, onions, garlic, table beets and other crops are also grown in significant volumes in Dagestan.
In the republic, vegetable production is mainly concentrated in household plots. In recent years, taking into account the state policy aimed at increasing the production of the "borscht set", agricultural organizations and peasant farms are also actively involved in this work. In particular, over the past year, the area under open ground vegetables in the commodity sector of Dagestan increased by 36% and reached about 2 thousand hectares.
Recall that in the past 2021, 1,4 million tons of vegetables were harvested in the Republic of Dagestan. A significant part of them was sold on the markets of other regions of the Russian Federation.
