Russia plans to increase production of grain, oilseeds and potatoes by 2030, while sugar beet production will remain at the current level of about 50 million tons, said the head of the crop production department of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, Petr Chekmarev.
“The production strategy until 2030 is 150 million tons of grain. Accordingly, to have 50 million hectares of grain crops with a yield of 3 tons per hectare, "Chekmarev said, speaking at the All-Russian Forum of Agricultural Producers.
The state program for the development of the agro-industrial complex assumes that the gross grain harvest in the Russian Federation in 2018 will be 106 million tons (the forecast of the Ministry of Agriculture is higher - about 110 million), in 2019 - 108 million, in 2020 - 110 million tons. According to the ministry's presentation, from 2021 it is planned to consistently increase the harvest by 4 million tons annually - to 150 million in 2030.
Chekmarev also recalled that in 2017 Russia received a record harvest of oilseeds - 16,495 million. In 2018, production may reach 16,335 million tons. “The prospect is to move further to 25 million tons of oilseeds (in 2030 - ed.) To export them. To increase exports not just by interest, but by several times, ”he said.
Sugar beet production in 2017 amounted to 51,9 million tons (Russia ranks first in this indicator), in 2018 it may decrease to 45 million tons. In 2030, the sugar beet harvest may reach 50 million tons. The production of sugar from sugar beet for the 2017-2018 production season amounted to 6,6 million tons, and in the 2018-2019 production year it may decrease to 6,3 million tons.
Potato production by 2030 may grow to 32 million tons from 29,6 million tons in 2017 (forecast for 2018 - 29,73 million), vegetables - up to 19,3 million tons from 16,44 million (2018 - 16,996 million). The sown area in the Russian Federation is planned to be increased to 90 million hectares from 80,6 million in 2017, and the area of unused arable land is to be reduced to 8,7 million hectares from 20,3 million hectares.
