Representatives of the Rosselkhoznadzor and Egypt on Monday discussed the issues of mutual supplies of plant products, in particular, the import of Egyptian potatoes to the Russian Federation, as well as the export of Russian wheat to the Arab republic, the department reports.
In March, the Rosselkhoznadzor reported on the restriction of the import of potatoes from a number of regions of Egypt due to the pathogen of brown bacterial rot identified in it.
According to the press service, during the talks, Deputy Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor Yulia Shvabauskene said that potato supplies from these regions could be resumed after the Egyptian side provides full information on the measures taken and the investigation conducted in each of the zones.
In turn, the Egyptian department announced its readiness to provide all the necessary information to the Rosselkhoznadzor within a week.
In addition, the parties discussed quarantine phytosanitary requirements and quality and safety requirements for Russian wheat exported to Egypt. In particular, the Egyptian side informed that the Russian wheat imported into the country should be decontaminated by institutions subordinate to the Rosselkhoznadzor.
